Our tutors will teach Year 7 students following the Australian curriculum, ensuring they develop critical skills in reading, writing, and communication. By the end of Year 7, students interact with others, listening to and creating spoken and multimodal texts for various audiences and purposes. They express and expand ideas with evidence, identify how text structures and language features shape meaning, and analyse how texts reflect their contexts. They write structured texts, using language features, literary devices, and evidence to convey their ideas clearly.
Language:
Year 7 students learn how language is used to interact in different contexts, expressing identity and evaluating texts. They explore how text structures vary by purpose and audience, and use complex sentences to elaborate ideas. They also learn to maintain consistency in tense and use vocabulary that builds technical and academic knowledge.
Literature:
Students engage with literature by discussing characters, settings, and themes in texts from diverse historical, social, and cultural contexts, including those by First Nations Australian authors. They analyse how literary devices like dialogue and imagery influence meaning, and explore how characters and events combine to create deeper layers of meaning in narratives and poetry. Students also experiment with creating their own literary texts, using techniques they have encountered.
Literacy:
Students practise listening and speaking in discussions, adapting their language to suit different audiences and contexts. They analyse how language and visuals are used in digital and print texts, and use comprehension strategies to summarise, infer, and evaluate information. Writing tasks include planning and creating detailed texts, using appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as creating multimodal presentations with effective voice and visuals.
