Our tutors will teach Year 8 students following the Australian curriculum, ensuring they achieve key outcomes in communication, understanding language systems, and cultural awareness. By the end of Year 8, students use French to interact in familiar and some unfamiliar contexts, sharing information about their interests and daily lives. They develop skills in reading and writing, understanding basic grammatical structures and pronunciation. Students also explore cultural aspects of French-speaking communities and reflect on similarities and differences between French and English.
Our tutors will ensure to cover all topics from the Year 8 French curriculum:
Interacting in French:
Students engage in conversations about their school life, hobbies, and daily routines, using appropriate phrases and expressions. They practise adjusting their language to suit different contexts through role-plays and group activities.
Mediating meaning in and between languages:
Students interpret information from a variety of sources, including stories, songs, and digital content. They begin translating simple phrases, exploring how cultural context influences language use.
Creating text in French:
Students create spoken and written texts, such as descriptions of their surroundings or activities, using familiar vocabulary and sentence structures. They practise writing short paragraphs and using basic grammar accurately.
Understanding language and culture:
Students develop their pronunciation and intonation through reading aloud and conversation practice. They explore cultural practices like traditional greetings, celebrations, and everyday customs, discussing how these are expressed in French-speaking countries.
