Our tutors will teach Year 7 students following the Australian curriculum, ensuring they achieve key outcomes in communication, understanding language systems, and cultural awareness. By the end of Year 7, students use Japanese to interact in familiar and some unfamiliar contexts, sharing information about their interests, school, and daily activities. They develop their reading and writing skills using hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji, and learn to create short texts. Students also explore how Japanese culture influences language use, reflecting on similarities and differences between Japanese and their own cultural practices.
Our tutors will ensure to cover all topics from the Year 7 Japanese curriculum:
Interacting in Japanese:
Students engage in conversations about their daily routines, interests, and school life, using appropriate phrases and expressions. They practise listening, responding, and adjusting their language to suit different situations through role-plays and class activities.
Mediating meaning in and between languages:
Students interpret key information from a range of spoken, written, and visual texts, using gestures or simple language to convey their understanding. They explore cultural contexts and begin translating familiar phrases, recognising cultural differences in expressions.
Creating text in Japanese:
Students use familiar vocabulary to create spoken and written texts, such as descriptions of their hobbies or school environment. They practise writing with hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji, ensuring accuracy and fluency.
Understanding language and culture:
Students develop their pronunciation and intonation through reading and speaking activities. They explore cultural practices like greetings, school customs, and traditional events, discussing how language reflects Japanese values and social norms.
