Our tutors will teach Year 6 students following the Australian curriculum, ensuring they achieve key outcomes in communication, understanding language systems, and cultural awareness. By the end of Year 6, students engage in structured exchanges in French, using familiar phrases to communicate about their daily lives and surroundings. They respond to and create spoken and written texts using modelled language and understand basic pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure. Students explore cultural practices in French-speaking communities, reflecting on how language use relates to cultural identity.
Our tutors will ensure to cover all topics from the Year 6 French curriculum:
Interacting in French:
Students participate in conversations about themselves, their school, and their local environment, using basic phrases and expressions. They practise negotiating, expressing preferences, and exchanging information through role-plays and interactive activities.
Mediating meaning in and between languages:
Students locate key information in stories, songs, and digital content, responding to it in French or English. They explore the cultural meanings behind common expressions and use translation tools to understand simple texts.
Creating text in French:
Students use familiar sentence structures to create short spoken and written texts, such as invitations or descriptions of daily routines. They practise using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to express their ideas clearly.
Understanding language and culture:
Students develop their pronunciation and intonation through practice with songs and dialogues. They explore how cultural practices, such as greetings and celebrations, are expressed in French, and discuss how language reflects identity and values.
