VCE Specialist Maths is one of the hardest subjects that students undertake in the VCE. Often students who undertake this course can expect to get their marks scaled up a lot. When we have interviewed our tutors and successful students, the number one piece of advice for how to do well in the final exam is to do practice questions.

Check out this article where we explain why past papers are the most important way to study for an exam

The questions you practice out of your textbook are good to build the base knowledge, but they are often very different to the questions they ask in the exam. You need to be getting familiar with the style of questions they ask in exams. Obviously exams change from year to year, but VCE examiners will often re-use question formats from previous year exams.

However, you can only really start doing practice exams once you have completed the entire course. So what if you wanted to practice exam-style questions before then?

How to use this resource?

You can use this resource in two ways. Either as soon as you finish the topic in class or in SWOTVAC when you want to do a review on past work.

Once you are ready, you should go through every question and try and answer it on your own.

If you get it correct, great! You can mark it as ā€œCorrectā€ in the table for each topic.

The document is organised by topic. Underneath each topic, the questions are organised by sub-topic and difficulty. Here you can record how you go as well as leave notes for yourself.

If you get it incorrect, you can leave a note in the table for each topic. This means you need to do some further study on the topic or get some help to understand why you got it wrong. You need to keep a log of all your incorrect answers.

You should then return to answer these questions in a couple of weeks to ensure you now understand these questions.

In the exam, there will be 20 MCQ each worth one mark. That means it makes up 25% of your overall mark for this exam. The exam is 120 minutes long, therefore you should expect to spend at most 30 minutes on the MCQ. This suggests that you can spend 90 seconds on each question. As part of your practice, you also need to think about speed.

On your first pass through, do not worry about speed. But as you get closer to the exam, you need to be thinking about how long it is taking you to answer each question.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
