School Dates And Public Holidays For Students In Melbourne In 2027 blog cover

Victorian schools run on a four-term year, with term dates set by the Victorian Department of Education. This guide covers the official 2027 term dates, school holidays and public holidays, so families in Melbourne and across Victoria can plan the year ahead. Independent and Catholic schools generally follow similar dates, but always check your school's calendar.

What's Different About 2027?

  • Term 1 is shorter than usual. It runs for just nine weeks and finishes on Thursday 25 March, so the autumn holidays start on Good Friday.
  • Easter is fully inside the autumn holidays. Good Friday to Easter Monday (26–29 March) falls at the start of the break, so there's no Easter long weekend during term.
  • The AFL Grand Final public holiday will likely fall in the spring holidays. The spring break runs from 18 September to 3 October, which usually includes the last Friday in September.
  • Melbourne Cup Day falls during Term 4, on Tuesday 2 November, when VCE written exams are usually underway. Year 12 students should check the 2027 VCE exam timetable once it's released.

Grace is the Marketing Manager at Apex Tuition Australia. She graduated from Ateneo de Davao University in 2017 as an Academic Scholar, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. Growing up, she loved reading stories and anything she could get her hands on, so she chose the course without realising it would mean readings on readings on readings (she’d still recommend it, though!). At 20, she began her career with a US-based company, stepping in nervously as the youngest team member, but soon gained valuable experience that shaped her early growth. Outside of work, Grace enjoys music (especially karaoke, where she believes enthusiasm matters more than pitch), binge-watching movies and series (and calling it language learning), and planning her next travel escape, even if it’s just to the nearest café with good Wi-Fi.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
