This worksheet builds fluency with multiplication facts to 10 x 10 and their division facts, teaching students to work out harder facts from easier ones and extend them to bigger numbers. The worksheet is split into warm-up questions, standard questions and then extension questions to test you.
The concepts it covers:
- Every multiplication fact has related division facts: 6 × 9 = 54, so 54 ÷ 6 = 9 and 54 ÷ 9 = 6.
- Use facts you know to build new ones: 7 × 6 = 5 × 6 + 2 × 6.
- × 9 is × 10, take one lot away: 9 × 4 = 40 − 4 = 36.
- Extend facts with place value: 6 × 4 = 24, so 6 × 40 = 240.
What your child will practise:
- Recalling multiplication and division facts to 10 × 10.
- Splitting a fact into two easier facts (using arrays).
- Doubling a known fact (× 2 to × 4 to × 8, or × 3 to × 6).
- Using the × 10 fact to find × 9.
- Extending facts to multiples of 10.
Every section opens with a worked example, and the download includes a full answer key with step-by-step solutions and teaching notes on the mistakes students most commonly make.
