This worksheet teaches students to use angles on a straight line, angles at a point, vertically opposite angles, complements and supplements to find unknown angles and explain their reasoning. The worksheet is split into warm-up questions, standard questions and then extension questions to test you.
The concepts it covers:
- Angles on a straight line add to 180°. Two angles that add to 180° are supplementary; each is the supplement of the other.
- Angles in a right angle add to 90°. Two angles that add to 90° are complementary; each is the complement of the other.
- Angles at a point (all the way around) add to 360°.
- When two straight lines cross, the angles opposite each other are vertically opposite, and they are equal.
- Always give a reason, such as "angles on a straight line add to 180°".
What your child will practise:
- Finding the complement and supplement of an angle.
- Finding an unknown angle on a straight line or at a point.
- Finding all four angles when two lines cross.
- Writing a number sentence (like 37 + □ = 180) to find an unknown angle.
- Solving multi-step angle problems and explain the reasoning.
Every section opens with a worked example, and the download includes a full answer key with step-by-step solutions and teaching notes on the mistakes students most commonly make.
